Eryin Non Dae.: Meliora
04/01/14 || Cobal
If I were in charge of accepting and rejecting bands for the Metal Archives, as well as being a fucking asshole for that matter, I’d probably reject Eryin Non Dae for not being metal enough. Indeed, banning anything that one cannot understand is way easier than putting your freaking ears and brains to work.
Imagine that you get Gojira to re-arrange some Meshuggah songs. Ready? There you go. That’s exactly what “Meliora” sounds like. Yummy? Fairly. While the musicianship and songwriting here is undeniable, it lacks that simpler appeal I’m much fonder of nowadays. Music for musicians some might say. This is not the kind of album I would play while I’m taking a shower or simply fooling around home. Au contraire, it’s the kind of record you should really pay all your attention to, and listen twice or thrice before even trying to emit a judgment on it. Even then, it’s not gonna be an easy task…
7/10: Keeping an eye on these ones.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
